Why Do Nurse Practitioners Charge for Private Care?
In Ontario, Nurse Practitioners (NPs) play a vital role in delivering high-quality healthcare, but due to billing restrictions, they cannot bill the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP) for certain services. This means that while NPs offer expert care comparable to other healthcare providers, they must charge patients directly for private services.
Unlike family physicians who can bill OHIP for patient visits, NPs in independent practice are not eligible for this funding under current provincial regulations. Charging for services allows NPs to continue providing accessible, comprehensive care and to operate independently, offering patients timely, personalized healthcare when they need it most.

We offer timely access to care for many common concerns and healthcare needs. Please note we are a fee for service private healthcare provider. We will request your OHIP number for laboratory and diagnostic tests and referral to specialists if required. Please note we do not provide prescriptions for narcotics or controlled substances. Fees are non-refundable with less than 4 hours notice and for no shows.
Additional fees may be required for form completion, referral to specialist, follow-ups to discuss diagnostic test results.
Tax Deductible
Services provided by our nurse practitioners are eligible for medical tax deductions in the province of Ontario. Please keep your receipt to submit with your taxes
